Mr. Gene L. White of Harrisburg, departed this life Monday, July 25, 2016, at his home, at the age of 85. He was born August 8, 1930 in Marked Tree, the son of the late Clarence L. White and Lula Mae Yarbrough White. Gene was a construction worker and factory worker. He worked for General Motors for 13 years. He loved the outdoors and working on backhoes and other heavy equipment. He enjoyed watching Fox News and Western Channels. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. He met his wife, Leola Guy White, while working for General Motors and they married September 7, 1991. Gene was an avid Entrepreneur and LandLord. He was a pilot and loved to fly. He was a Master Mason, 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Mae White, two brothers, Otto White and Oneal White, and one sister, Doris L. White. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Leola Guy White of the home, one son, Eugene White of Harrisburg, one stepson, Joseph Klamert of Flint, MI, two stepdaughters, Glenda Chadwell of Harrisburg, and Rhonda Burks of Flint, MI, one brother, James F. White of Harrisburg and several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services have been set for 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Farm Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
