Jonesboro- Gene Albert Love, 93, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home.
He was born March 14, 1927 in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Hardy and Aliene Love. Gene moved to Jonesboro at the age of 19, when he and his wife, Sue Wyatt married. He was a charter member of the Southwest Church of Christ. He proudly served in the Merchant Marines Coast Guard during World War II. He had owned and operated theatres in Brookland, Sedgewick, Cash, Egypt and Dixie. He went into the sewing machine repair business and owned Love's Sewing Center for almost fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Sue Wyatt Love in 2011; son-in-law, Pete Hinson and a granddaughter, Amy Hinson Hess.
He was survived by his two daughters, Suzanne Hinson and Becky Creecy both of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Scott Creecy (Sara) and Brooke Barnett (Grant) all of Osceola; six great-grandchildren, Hayden Creecy, Braxton Creecy, Braelyn Creecy, Emma Barnett, Luke Barnett and Drew Barnett; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers were Scott Creecy, Grant Barnett, Hayden Creecy, Braxton Creecy, Luke Barnett and Drew Barnett.
