Gayle Maria Costner of Jonesboro, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life on Friday, May 22, 2026, at her home, at the age of 70.

She was born August 9, 1955, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Sam Costner and Barbara Coons Costner.

Gayle was a 1973 graduate of Harrisburg High School where she loved being a Hornet Cheerleader. She was also named Miss Poinsett County, her senior year. After high school she attended ASU for a short time and later became a dental assistant, a career she worked in most of her life. She was an avid tennis player and loved arts and crafts. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren! She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father Sam Costner, a son Jeremy James Wimpy, and her brother Jody Thompson.

She is survived by two sons, Brad Wimpy and his wife Whitney of Harrisburg, and Cam Wimpy and his wife Amanda Carpenter of Jonesboro, her mother Barbara Coates and her husband Dean of Harrisburg, five siblings, Sam Costner and his wife Joan of Jonesboro, Nick Costner and his wife Margaret of Paragould, Cary Costner and his wife Deborah of Cherry Valley, Jimmy Thompson of Harrisburg, and Suzanne McMinn and her husband Scott of Texas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren she loved so much Emma Grace Wimpy of Jonesboro, Sullivan Lee Wimpy of Harrisburg, Cameron Carpenter Wimpy of Jonesboro, and Joanna Mae Wimpy of Jonesboro.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home in Harrisburg on Wednesday afternoon, May 27th, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to send them to a charity of your choosing or to the Humane Society.
