Freda Joyce Cooper, 84, passed from this life on February 8, 2013. A lifelong resident of Pocahontas, she was born to Edna Johnson Waymon and Fred Waymon on August 16, 1928. She married Joseph Ray Cooper, and they enjoyed life together until his death in 1983. She raised their family and farmed by his side; and after his death continued to carry his Mail Route until the age of 81, when Rheumatoid Arthritis became too painful. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Dave) McComas of Memphis; son Dennis of Carthage, TX; son Gary of Jonesboro. She adored her Grandchildren Ashlea, Jeremy, Amy (deceased), and Rodney, and Great-Grandchildren Essence, Madison, Chandler, and Evan; and loving companions Meem and Solomon. Joyce is survived by her sister, Shirley Reed, of N. Little Rock; predeceased by brothers Lawson Bass, Sr., and Verl Waymon. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Joyce was a charter member of Eastside Church of Christ in 1948, and in later years a member of Westridge Church of Christ. She always put the needs of others before her own, visiting the sick and comforting the bereaved. There is a special place in Heaven reserved for her. Visitation will be in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, with Funeral Services following at 1 pm. Gerald Fears will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Gardens next to her beloved husband Ray and granddaughter Amy.
