Lake City- Frank Edward Flynn, 82, formerly of Granite City, Ill., passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at home after a brief illness. He was born February 8, 1932 in Lake City, the son of William Roland Flynn and Ruby Marie Phillips Flynn Wingo. On May 2, 1952, he married Frances Divona Reynolds who passed away May 18, 2012. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. Frank and Frances were members of Needham Assembly of God Church. Frank was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal with six Bronze Stars, the Occupation Medal for Japan, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation for his service from 1949 - 1952. He was employed for 30 years by General Motors where he was a general foreman on the corvette line at the St. Louis, Mo. plant. He retired in 1984. Frank enjoyed singing and playing guitar, bringing laughter to family and friends, fish fries, his wife's banana pudding, and his mother's coconut cake. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, and five brothers. He is survived by his children, one daughter, Frankie Flynn Kins and husband David of Pueblo, Colo.; two sons, Phillip E. Flynn and wife LeAnn of Pueblo West, Colo.; Aaron C. Flynn and wife Robin of Granite City, Ill; one sister, Jewell Sneed of Delano, Cali.; one brother, Donnie Flynn of St. Charles, Mo.; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Van Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
