Obituary

Frances Louise Haas, 93, of Warm Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Saint Bernard's Hospital, Jonesboro. Frances was born on August 27, 1927, in Woodside, Queens, New York to Frank and Mary Danek.

During her childhood she would spend the summers with her grandparents, Charles and Mary Simacek in rural 1930s Higganum, Connecticut. She loved picking wild huckleberries for her grandmother. In the summer of '42, Frances met her future husband, Ambrose Haas, swimming in Hidden Lake.

On June 21, 1947, Frances married Ambrose (Ed) Haas in New York. During their 73 years of marriage they lived together in North Guilford and Milford, Connecticut and Dalton, Arkansas. They raised three children; Doug, Sandy, and Russ. Frances, Ambrose, and Russ moved to Arkansas in 1977.

Frances enjoyed and loved playing the piano every day which she learned from her mother. She was constantly reading a detective spy novel, copying new recipes, cooking, and baking desserts for family and friends. She was always peeling potatoes or apples for a pie. Frances was avid fan of her "stories" (soap operas) beginning in the 1950s listening on radio then TV. You did not disturb her when the "Secret Storm", "Guiding Light", and "Young and the Restless" were on. That was her personal time.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Danek, and sisters, Elsie Gay and Marie Bogue. Frances is survived by her husband, Ambrose Edward Haas, of Warm Springs, her children, Douglas Haas (Loni), Sandra Pekari (Doug), Russell Haas (Janet), her 7 grandchildren, Shalon Osier, Torey Haas, Jaime Pekari, Allison Core, Theresa Haines, Katherine Tharp, Steven Haas, and 3 great grandchildren, Maddox Core, Kellen Haines, and Bennet Haines.

A special thanks to all the Randolph County EMS responders and the health care providers at Five Rivers Medical Center for their outstanding care. Due to the current COVID pandemic, memorial and funeral services will be held at a later date. Frances will be interred in Higganum-Burr Cemetery, Haddam, Connecticut with her parents.
