Pocahontas - Eugene Alfred "Gene" Weisenbach, 84, of the Stokes Community passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Randolph Home.
Eugene was born October 20, 1934 in Brockett, AR to the late William Alfred and Minnie Mooney Weisenbach.
He trained as a medic for the US Army at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He then was assigned to an army base in Munich, Germany. Upon arrival in Munich, the staff sergeant called him out by name, asked if he was a farm boy from Arkansas, to which Gene replied "Yes." They noted farm boys from Arkansas could drive anything with a steering wheel. Gene was then assigned truck driver of the mobile hospital. He did that the entire time he was in Germany. Gene worked as a mechanic/foreman for Baltz Equipment until he retired. He was a very gifted mechanic and true to his German heritage, could fix about anything with a motor. He loved hunting and fishing, having caught a 13-pound bass out of Greers Ferry Lake. Turkey hunting was his favorite and he hunted every Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis Jean (Toye) Weisenbach; son, Ricky Weisenbach; grandson, Christopher Ursery; son-in-law, Glen Cole; and siblings, Lavern Weisenbach, Paul Weisenbach, Joe Weisenbach, Lawrence Weisenbach and Mary Weisenbach Kimble.
He is survived by children, Angela (Jim) Citek of Houston, Kathy (Blake) Mesenbrink of Utah, Lisa Cole of Paragould, Annetta (David) Allen of Paragould, Dennis Weisenbach of Maynard, and Tina (Jerry) Sharp of Pocahontas; daughter-in-law, Sheri Weisenbach; grandchildren, Ryan Weisenbach, Craig Weisenbach, Kristi Hampton, Anna Weisenbach, Adam Mesenbrink, Celeste Dahl, Joshua Barker, Rachel Hattenhauer, Megan Ursery, Seth Weisenbach, Jordan Weisenbach, Lauren Sharp, and Kristen Sharp; 15 great grandkids; and sister, Rose Ann (Weisenbach) Blevins.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 5-7 pm at McNabb Funeral Home with a Rosary service following at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10 am at St. John Catholic Church with Stephen Elser officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's Cemetery Fund.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Weisenbach, Craig Weisenbach, Seth Weisenbach, Joshua Barker, Adam Mesenbrink and Billy Blevins.
