Obituary

Mrs. Etta Mae Chambers, 93, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jonesboro Hospice House. Mrs. Chambers was born in Selmer, Tennessee on September 14, 1920 to the late Jim and Vera Cole. She retired from the Frolic Footwear Company after 35 years of service and was a charter member of the St Paul United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW organization. She was a volunteer for many years for the March of Dimes and loved quilting, working in her garden and yard and being with her family. She is survived by two sons, Tom Chambers of Auburn, AL and Terry Chambers of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Allison (Doug) Walker of Jonesboro and Nick (Anaisa) Chambers of Palm City, FL; five great-grandchildren, Megan Morrissette of Jonesboro; Krystal Walker and her fianc Travis Hubbard; Bailey Chambers of Clarksville, TN; Carlos Fresquet and Eric Fresquet both of Palm City, FL; three great-great grandchildren, Noah Hurd, Evan Luce and Caysen Stark; and Several Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Chambers; one daughter, Treva Chambers; four brothers and three sisters. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Sigman officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at the funeral home, 300 west Matthews. The family request lasting memorials to the St. Paul United Methodist Church or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
