Esther Marie Cherry, 96, of Springdale passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at Springdale Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 24, 1923 in Saddle, AR to the late Thomas J. and Cora A. Bailey Hightower. She married Clyde Cherry on June 3, 1939.

Marie was passionate about her plants, flowers, and her blue birds. In 1996 she was given an award for her plants and flowers by the mayor of Pocahontas. After she and Clyde retired, she also tended to another passion - fishing; always looking forward to trips to Dumas to fish for the big catfish below the dam. Marie was blessed to be a follower of Christ as a member of the Skaggs Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Cora Hightower; husband, Clyde Cherry; son, Bobby D. Cherry; brothers, Harold, Duane, Ray, and Frankie; and sister, Mary Rexroat.

She is survived by a son Jerry D. (Joyce) Cherry of Springdale; three grandchildren, Brian (Charity) Cherry of Tulsa, OK, Steven (Amanda) Cherry of Springdale, and David (Laci) Cherry of Springdale; eight great grandchildren, Logan, Lily, William, Andrew, Henry, Scarlett, Silas, and Smith; two brothers Hughie (JoAnn) Hightower of Pocahontas and Lloyd Dale (Creda) Hightower of Marion as well as many other relatives and friends.

God has taken her home and she will be missed by family and friends. We must wait for a later flight to Heaven to see her again.

Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2019 from 10 AM - 12 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a private family graveside service following. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.

The family requests no cut flowers, but live plants may be donated for the family to plant in Marie's remembrance. Donations may also be made to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting www.alz.org/nca/donate.
