Pocahontas: Ernest Cowan English, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 22nd 2011 at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born May 7th 1922 in Ravenden Springs, AR to the late Henry and Maude English. Mr. English served in the United States Army during World War II, he was a lifetime member of the DAV #40, a member of Meeks Johnston Post 6 American Legion, and a member of the Westridge Church of Christ. He was united in marriage to Elvena Stogsdill, May 7th 1952. He is survived by his wife Elvena of the home, three daughters, Susan Suggs and husband Jack of Chesterfield, MO, Sandra (Sandy) Jones and husband Mike, and Karen Johnson and husband Steve all of Pocahontas. Three granddaughters, Jenny Brooks and husband Keith, Wendy Jones, and Haley Hausmann, three grandsons, David Suggs and wife Kate, Jay Suggs and Brody Hausmann, one step grandson, Michael Johnson and wife Paige, three great grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, and Luke Brooks, and one step great grandson, Abel Johnson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Keith English, two Brothers, Randall and Ronald English. Funeral services for Mr. English will be Saturday November 26th at 10:00am in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Yadkin Cemetery with Larry Owen officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 at the Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by Promberger - Traw Post # 4556. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Care Facilities. Pallbearers include: Terry Baker, Greg Lance, Hubert Westmorlan, Bill Baily, Howard Dunn, Wayne Eggleston.
