Ernest Lavern Bruton, 76, of Pocahontas, AR., passed away November 5, 2008. Ernest was born August 14, 1932, in O'Kean, AR. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Armstrong Bruton; one son, Ernest Lavern Bruton, Jr. And his wife, Rose; and three daughters - Angela Hoofman and her husband, Roger; Robin Johnston and her husband, Mike; and Dana Ray and Mark Towell. He was the proud grandfather to five grandchildren - Heathe Downes and his wife, April; Haley Ray; Shelby Wyatt; Spencer Bruton; and Kelsey Bruton. He had three great-grandchildren - Hayden Downes, Kirsten Parrish, and Shiloh Downes. He was the brother of Anna Mae Carter. He left behind many other beloved relatives and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Effie Bruton, as well as two brothers and one sister - Darrell Bruton, Melvin Wilson, and Edith Jones. Ernest served with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Pocahontas Police Department, and Jonesboro Police Department for a total of 19 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Funeral Service will be held Friday November 7, 2008 in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Burial will follow to Randolph Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Pallbearers are as follows: Roger Hoofman, Mike Johnston, George Bruton, Raymond Bruton, John Chapman, and Aaron Milligan.
