Harrisburg- Elsie Elizabeth Jane Poff, 96, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
She was born September 15, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Roy Lee and Samantha Jones Hancock. Mrs. Poff was a homemaker and a member of the Alsup Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and fishing. She will be remember as a loving mother and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by three husbands, Ernie Shrout, Walter Poff and Harold Davis; a daughter, Georgia Dunham; three brothers, R. D. Hancock, Floyd Thomas Hancock and Ruben Hancock and four sisters, Dolly Hancock, Verbie Hutchins, Ada Wriley and Edna Varner.
She was survived by two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Roger Phillips of Millington, TN and Bettye and Sonny Gish of Olive Branch, MS; a sister, Joyce Mae French of Cherokee Village; a son-in-law, Jimmy Dunham of Newport; six grandchildren, Rebecca Perry, Suzie Brooks, Brenda Wilson, Scott Tallant, Blake Tallant and Ivan Gish; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Gregg- Weston Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
