Pocahontas- Elmertine "Tina" Armstrong, 84, passed away on February 4, 2016. Tina was born on November 18, 1931 in Pocahontas, AR to Elmer and Myrtle Johnson Bates. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Pocahontas. After retirement from Arnold Palmer Golf, she worked part time with Brad Headstart as a "Grandma." This was a highlight of her years. She had a deep love for children and was loved by children as well. She is survived by children: Bev (Phil) Ducker, Tammy (Vince) Ragsdell both of Pocahontas, Judy (Randy) Waymon of Dallas, Georgia, Traci (Jeff) Clayton of Jonesboro; grandchildren: Amy (Kevin) Sorg of Rogers, Jeremy Ducker, Miranda Clayton, Jackson Clayton, Neely Ragsdell all of Jonesboro, Jeff (Valerie) Thielemier, Darrin Thielemier both of Pocahontas, Nathan Ragsdell of O'Kean, Brock (Krystal) Waymon of Jasper, Georgia, Monica (Wyatt) Davis, Savannah (Ryan) Hutchinson, Candice (Oscar) Morales of Dallas, Georgia; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Gloria Newsom, Barbara Johnson; brothers Melvin Bates, Oral Bates, and Ishmael Bates. Services will be at McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her life will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Internment will be in Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas or John 3:16 Ministries in Charlotte.
