Obituary

Weiner- Elmer F. Cooper, 92, died February 16, 2017 in Crystal City, Missouri.

He was born November 9, 1924 in Weiner, son of the late Floyd and Ruth Williams Cooper. He was a World War II veteran. Elmer was owner and operator of the OK Barber Shop in Weiner until he retired to his cabinet shop.

In 1961 the city council ask him to organize the Weiner Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief for twenty-one years. He and fifteen men became the Weiner Fire Department.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Jean (Larry) Tucker of DeSoto, MO; three grandsons, Cooper (Kathleen) Tucker of Festus, MO, Matt (Julie) Tucker of St. Louis, MO and Adam Tucker of Bonne Terre, MO; three great-grandchildren, Madison Tucker, Mason Tucker and Wesley Tucker; three sisters, Ina Easter, Dorothy Griffin and Brenda Keller.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Viola "Blondie" Cooper; two brothers, Norman Cooper and Tommy Cooper and an infant sister, Willo Jean.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will be 11:00 am Monday, February 20, 2017 at Weiner Methodist Church with his nephews, Floyd Martin Cooper, Gerald Griffin and Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are the Weiner Volunteer Fire Department and as honorary pallbearers, Benny Ritter, Sam Rorex, Mark Dennis, Tommy Wofford and Allen Soden.
