Monette- Edward Dean Wheeler, 77, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Lakeside Nursing Home.
He was born March 21, 1941 in Rosie to the late Ernest and Lela Ross Wheeler. He was a jack of all trades, handy-man always working on a car, tractor, lawn mower or anything else that needed fixing. He loved farming and was a hard working hand for several local farm families though the years. After farming and a long stint as receiving supervisor at Delta Tool Box, he found his dream job as maintenance supervisor of Lakeside Nursing Center, where he worked until retirement.
In 1967 Edward surrended to the ministry and pastored off and on until the early 1990\u0027s. He was honored to preform wedding ceremonies for several family members including his two sons and five of his grandchildren. In 1992, he enjoyed the trip of his life when he traveled to England to visit a son and granddaughters that were stationed in the Air Force there.
Ed was a jokester, loved to laugh and gave silly nicknames to his favorite people. He will be remembered as a loving man that put his family first.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita Wheeler; children, Robyn Smith, Greg Wheeler and Chad Wheeler (Allison); grandchildren, Clint Wheeler (Miranda), Hunter Smith (Nan Lee), Whitney Campbell, Haley Smithee (Blake), Ethan Wheeler (Katie), Courtney Gibbs (Dustin) and Brittney Neff (Austin) and bonus granddaughter, Rebecca Breeden; great-grandchildren, Lennon, Raelyn, Addison, Madelyn, Brady, Anna, Lila and Piercely; sisters, Betty Ruth Blackwell, Kathryn Lewis (Rick) and Virginia George; brothers, Steven Wheeler (Loretta) and Gary Wheeler (Janice) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Wheeler and a sister, Glenda Wheeler.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Jake Gulley officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Clint Wheeler, Hunter Smith, Ethan Wheeler, Blake Smithee, Austin Neff and Lennon Wheeler.
