Jonesboro- Edward Paul Spencer, 89, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab.
He was born May 1, 1927 in Bay to the late V. V. and Mildred Blue Spencer. He farmed most of his life and loved it. He was the first farmer in Craighead County to have a self-propelled two row cotton picker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, David Spencer of Jonesboro, Gary Spencer (Christina) of Powhatan, Lisa Dutton (Dean) of Supply, DeAnna Armstrong (Roy) of Black Rock and Ramona Ray (Keith) of Brookland; three brothers, Guy Spencer and Sam Spencer both of Bay and Amos Spencer of Williford; four sisters, Ann Dunaway of Jonesboro, Maxine Sisk of Hickory Withe, TN, Betsy Malone of Jonesboro and Linda Culvey of Sherwood; twelve grandchildren, Wesley Spencer, Nathan Spencer, Casey Spencer, Tanner Armstrong, Heather Petty, Shauna Richardson, Lindsey Spencer, Jenny Folden, Tamara Bell, Keaton Ray, Evan Ray and Evelyn Ray; eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Spencer; brothers, Howard Spencer, T. S. Spencer, Roosevelt Spencer, Marvin Spencer and sister, Louise Cook.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Brookland Church of Christ with Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will be private under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 2:00 pm, Thursday.
Honored to serve as pallbearers, Tanner Armstrong, Keaton Ray, Wesley Spencer, Nathan Spencer, Paul Spencer and Darrel Spencer and as honorary pallbearers, Casey Spencer, Jeremy Folden, Dewain Richardson, Bob Zimmer, Bob McGhee, Caleb Bell and Joseph Petty.
