Jonesboro- Edna Fay Thomas, 84, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at St. Bernard Medical Center.
She was born July 19, 1939 in Bunny near Caraway to the late Ezra and Dolly Crum Rutledge. Mrs. Thomas graduated Bay High School in 1957 and loved sports especially basketball where she was a star player. She also attended Arkansas State University studying political science and history. She was a homemaker that enjoyed sewing and cooking. She loved Sunday dinners with her family and church family. You had to sign the wall when you came to eat (Ten Commandments). She worked in vacation bible school and taught classes at First Freewill Baptist Church and loved her church family as much as her own family.
She is survived by her children, Michael Thomas (Doris), Carol Gulley (John), Scott Thomas (Pam), Danna Manning (Joey) and Donna Thomas; brother, John Rutledge; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Thomas; sons, Mickey Thomas and Mark Thomas; siblings, Verna Mae Coomer, Adelle George, Jack Rutledge, Aline Mote, Cleda Rutledge, Elijah Rutledge, Chester Rutledge, Cecil Rutledge, Mary Ann Rodney and Margie Alberta Rutledge.
A celebration of her life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at First Freewill Baptist Church at 5407 Stadium Blvd in Jonesboro.
