Obituary

Dud Singley, 90, of Pocahontas, died August 6, 2014 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He lived in Pocahontas his entire adult life where he and his wife Eileen, were owners and operators of Singley Insurance Agency for 36 years. They retired in 1987 and enjoyed 20 years of traveling with friends in their motor home. He was a member of the Pocahontas Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He was a 32 Scottish Rite Mason and past Patron of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 for over 65 years. He was a past president of Pocahontas Rotary Club and was a member for 34 years. Being very patriotic he was a veteran of two wars. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and spent two and half years in the South Pacific and was involved in several naval operations including the invasion of Saipan and Tinian of the Marianas Islands. He also spent fourteen months serving in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pocahontas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Eileen, granddaughter Melissa Ann Alston, brothers Don Singley and Everett Singley, sisters Jimmie McGhee, Pauline McKinney, Nadine Sago and Tommie Tipton. He is survived by 3 daughters; Brenda (B.D.) Tiner of San Antonio, Texas, Carla Hurt of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Marcia (Roger) Wray of Mt. Dora, Florida. Grandchildren Lauren Tiner, Colby Tiner, Michael Alston, Jessie Hurt and Barak Wray; sister Evelyn Fender of Paragould, brother Harold Singley of Pocahontas and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 with funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. with Jerol Swaim and Eric Moffitt officiating. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery. Lasting memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Pocahontas Building fund, 511 W. Church, Pocahontas, AR 72455 or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401
