Doyle¨Sonny" Craig, 85, of Pocahontas, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, surrounded by his family in his home. Sonny is now in his Heavenly Home in the loving arms of Jesus. Sonny was born on May 4, 1939, in Bay, Arkansas to the late Alexander and Elizabeth Craig.
Sonny married the love of his life, Mary Cook, on March 28, 1958. They just recently celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary. Sonny was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to fish, boat ride, mow his grass, and play with his dog, Millie, and his cat, Mazie. Sonny was a hard worker and held many jobs throughout his life. He was still hauling gravel and bush hogging at 85 years old. Family meant everything to Sonny. It was his goal to always provide and take care of his family. He instilled a hard-work ethic in his children, as well as teaching them to help, respect, and love others.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary Craig, his son, Randy (Nancy) Craig of Pocahontas, his two daughters, Patty Jankus of Marseilles, IL, and Rhonda (David) McCallister of Pocahontas, his grandchildren Steven (Marysa) Jankus, Sharon (Wayne Pitman) Godwin, Mandy Blair, Tiffany (Justin) Meents, Blake (Kaylie) Craig, Matthew (Genna Cates) McCallister, Austin (Robin) Glisson, and Cade (Natalie Anderson) Coates, his great grandchildren Kyler (Jillian Anderson) Blair, Logan (Katlyn McMullin) Godwin, Zander (Tayler Coffer ) Blair, Landon Jankus, Collin Jankus, Elijah Jankus-Kraft , Alyssa Craig, Brixton McLaren, Jakson Gilbert, Brooklynn Wood, Malia Meents, Kaden Meents, Grayson Craig, Peyton Pitman, Emma Glisson, Luke Glisson, and Aubrey Glisson, his great-great grandchildren Carter Blair, Alivia Blair, Amity Blair and Tyler Godwin.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Eugene ¨Runt¨ Craig, Franklin ¨Pug¨ Blankenship, and John ¨Jody¨ Craig, his sisters Margaret Gulley, Beulah Stech, Rosie McPhearson, Katherine Rasdon, and Ruth Imler, his niece Freddie Adams, his son-in-law Lloyd Jankus, and his granddaughter Christina Jankus.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10:00 am at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church with Kevin Barnett officiating. Burial will take place in the Sutton Cemetery with the great grandsons honored to be pallbearers.
