Jonesboro- Dovie Francis Groves, 81, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

She was born August 27, 1942 in Jonesboro to the late Huey and Flora Mae Dunlap Gallion. She worked at Arkansas State University and Jr. Foods for several years. Dovie was all about her family and took care of her mother until she passed. She enjoyed watching wrestling and hallmark movies. She was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.

She was survived by her children, Steve Groves (Brenda) and Pamela Castleman; grandchildren, Melissa Murphy (Ronnie), Megan Rowe (Pat) and Jeffrey Reeves; step-granddaughter, Tiffany Loueallen; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Short" Groves and a sister, Helen Payton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A celebration of her life will 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 with Rev. Don Martin officiating at the funeral home. Interment will follow at McDaniel Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeffrey Reeves, Brett Tate, Bryan Finley, Brittany Finley, Anthony Mahan and Heaven McLaughin and as honorary pallbearers, Wayne Mahan and Shannon Tippitt.
