Jonesboro- Douglas Porter Matthews Sr., 62, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home.
He was born February 5, 1955 in Pocahontas to the late Willie Porter Matthews and Velma Rose Dame Matthews. He was a mechanic at Central Chevrolet for over twenty years.
He is also preceded in death by his son, Douglas Matthews Jr. and a sister, Eulla Mae Brott.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Matthews; six sons, Luke Matthews (Michelle) of Marcella, Michigan, Scotty Gunter and Joseph Lundry (Stevie) all of Jonesboro, Jacob Matthews of Hart, Michigan, Ben Matthews of Hart, Michigan and James Lundry (Megan) of Jonesboro; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Matthews of Jonesboro; son-in-law, Matthew Stone of Jonesboro; a brother, Bill Matthews of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Mandolyn Gunter, Eleven Gunter, Camryn Matthews, Elizabeth Matthews, James Lundry Jr., John Lundry, Ashlynn Lundry, Aimee Lundry, Mara Lundry, Mattie Stone.
A celebration of his life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Steve Stroud, Joseph Lundry, James Lundry, Scott Gunter, Matt Stone and Lee Lambert.
