Walnut, IL-  Dortha Mae Roberts Richards, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Walnut, IL. She was born to William R.T. and Emma Henderson Roberts in Beech Grove on July 19, 1930.

Her mother died when Dortha was fourteen and along with her Dad and her Grandma she helped care for her younger sisters. Dortha married her love, Kenneth S. Richards in Lake City on November 3, 1947. They were married for over fifty-eight years, they lived in Illinois from mid-1950 till they retired in 1985 and returned to Monette. After Kenneth passed in 2006, Dortha moved back to Illinois where she made her home, she lived on her own till her health declined and then lived with her daughter, Debra for almost two years before moving to the nursing home last September.

Dortha leaves behind her children, Thomas (Helen) Richards of Riverside, TX., Frances Day of Walnut, IL and Debra (Robert) Troxell of Amboy, IL; two sisters, Betty Riemer of Cave City and Mary Jo Breeden of Paragould. Dortha loved all her sixteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great and six great-great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She loved to give them, sugars and hugs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Preston and a daughter, Kathern Savin; sisters, Pauline Reed, Goldie Sims Weller, an infant brother and infant sister.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Visitation will be from 9:00 until time of service with burial following at Macey Cemetery near Monette.
