Dorothy Mae Eldridge Peters, age 83, of Hot Springs, AR passed away May 15, 2008. She was born June 12, 1924 in Walnut Ridge, AR She was the eldest of ten children born to Roscoe and Goldie Eldridge. She grew up in the Heel String community south of Corning, AR and attended school at Corning. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Roscoe Franklin Eldridge and Goldie Jewel Wilson Eldridge, one brother Billy Joe Eldridge and a grandson Joseph Russell "Cody" Peters. She is survived by her husband Joseph H. Peters, her son, Joseph Alan Peters and his wife, Carol of Hot Springs, AR, one great-granddaughter Kaili Alexis "Lexi" Weatherford, five brothers, J.W. Eldridge of Corning, AR., Cecil Eldridge of Machesney Park, IL., Orbra Lee Eldridge of Datto, AR, Roscoe D. Eldridge of Elizabeth, AR and Benton D. Eldridge of Daleville, AL, three sisters, Willie Louise Hart of Greenbrier, AR Mary Elizabeth "Becky" Higgins of Loves Park, IL and Nima McFatridge of Elizabeth, AR and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a ticket agent in Corning, Pocahontas, Newport and Jonesboro, AR In her 50 years of selling bus tickets and serving the traveling public, she had been a ticket agent for Missouri Pacific Bus Lines, Midwest Bus Lines, Continental Trailways, Great Southern Coaches and Greyhound Lines. Dorothy and her husband also operated the Rendezvous Cafe in Pocahontas during the 1950's and early 60's. After her retirement in 1995 she became a companion and dedicated caregiver to her mother for the next five years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and her cooking was her gift to many friends and family. She loved to host large gatherings at her home in Newport. Visitation will be Monday May 19, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at McNabb Funeral Home, Pocahontas, AR. Burial and a graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Cemetery with Father John Marconi officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411 W.
