Jonesboro- Dorothy Leanda Halford, 94, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Dorothy was born July 7, 1922 to the late James William and Dixie Lee Burrow Halford. She grew up in the Valley View community and graduated from Valley View High School in 1941. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was a medical technologist for eight years at Harris Hospital in Newport and retired from St. Bernards Medical Center.

Dorothy loved gardening, bowling, and traveling with friends and family. On a whim, she and her friends once took a side trip to Cuba shortly before the revolution and rise of Fidel Castro. Dorothy was one of the first residents to move into the new St. Bernard's Village where she resided for over sixteen years until shortly before her death.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Myrtle Steinegger; five brothers, William "Bill", Melvin, Allen, Woodrow and Herbert Halford; nieces, Waverlee Allen, Jo Ann Horton and Mary Louise Stallings.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Janet (Richard) Duffel, Carolyn (Robert) Payne, Fred (Jane) Steinegger all of Jonesboro, Randall (Darlene) Halford of Dallas, Wayne Halford, Bruce Halford, Sandra Wiggs and Sharon Bartley of Seattle, Washington area, Shirley Smith of Gravette and Angela Halford of Little Rock; and many great-nieces and great- nephews.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2017 followed by a service at 11:00 am at the Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave, in Jonesboro. Burial will be at Keller's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Clark officiating.
