Doris June Whitaker, 86, formerly of Cardwell, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

She was born January 21, 1936 in Cardwell to the late Franklin and Hazel Mae Howell White. Mrs. Doris attended Trinity Baptist Church in Cardwell. She married Jessie Herman Whitaker, Jr. on September 27, 1954 and they enjoyed 62 years together before his death in 2016. She loved crocheting, making biscuits, reading her Bible and visiting with people. She was a huge fan of wrestling and her favorite musical artist was Conway Twitty. Her passion was her grandchildren and she loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her children, Lynette Wright of Paragould, Jessie F. Whitaker (Debbie) of West Memphis, Herman Whitaker (Cathy) of Van Nuys, CA and Elizabeth Ann Wright of Paragould, two sisters, Ethal Waddell of Cardwell, MO and Beth Roberts of Paragould, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Burlice White, two sisters, Judith Crain and Carolyn Glenn and a grandson, Steven Odell Whitaker.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Cardwell Cemetery with Mr. Danny Hall officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Steven Wrathers, Ryan Chilton, T.J. McClish, Jimmy Hubble, Michael Angotti and Sam Pate.  Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Martin and Fred Angotti.  There will be no visitation prior to service.
