Lake City- Christine Eakins, 84, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at Lakeside Nursing Home. She was born November 6, 1930 in Lake City to the late Jessie and Bessie Brooks Hopkins. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake City. Mrs. Christine worked at Singer in Trumann and at Colson's in Monette. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by a son and his wife, Tommy and Karen Eakins of Lake City; grandchildren, T. J. Eakins (Amanda), Daniel Eakins (Kasey), Lisa Weaver (Gary); great-grandchildren, Garrett Weaver, Lauren Weaver, Ryley Eakins, Parker Eakins and Callen Eakins; a son-law, Donnie Owens; a brother, Everett Hopkins (Shirley) of Grand Blanc, Michigan; a sister, Charlene Britton (Kelly) of Lake City and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neal Eakins; a daughter, Linda Eakins-Owens; three sisters, Imogene Hopkins, Evelyn Gross and Lucille Veteto; a brother, Hebert Hopkins. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Greg Rainwater. Burial to follow at Lake City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers are T. J. Eakins, Daniel Eakins, Gary Weaver, Donnie Owens, Alvin Gross and Stacy Britton.
