Jonesboro- Don Richard Belk, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born March 13, 1932 in Otwell to the late Thomas Richard and Rosa Langley Belk. Don served his country proudly in the United States Army. Mr. Belk attended Central Baptist College in Walnut Ridge and University of Arkansas receiving a Bachelor Degree. He retired in 1994 after teaching for 28 years at Jonesboro Vo-Tech School. He was also a minister for Pitts Baptist Church for 28 years. He was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. He served on the board at Keller's Chapel Cemetery for several years. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Richard and Gina Belk and Donald G. and Teresa Belk all of Jonesboro; three sisters, Ethel Chesser of Jacksonville, Effie Downs (Dean) of Egypt and Janice Makin of Mountain Home; four grandchildren, Rachel Belk, Sara Belk, Brody Belk (Brooke) and Madalyn Belk; two step-grandchildren, Robert Boylls and Christopher Boylls; a great-grandchild, Jace Belk and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two wives, Violet Spurlock Belk and Norma Belk; six brothers and sisters, Susie McDaniel, Sadie Mills, Herbert Belk, Juanita Pierce, Ruth Bailey and Tommy Belk. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Nettleton Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Allan Bailey, Randy Bailey, Troy Hooten, Terry Bailey, David Bailey, Kevin Bailey and as honorary pallbearers, Jimmy Bailey and Bob Pearce.
