Derl Gene Echols, 92 of Maynard passed away Thursday , May 4, 2023 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Derl was born September 13, 1930, in Proctor Arkansas to the late James and Sarah Doss Echols. In his younger years, he enjoyed RV camping, going to the lake, and tending to his garden. You could always find him in his garage working on something or mowing the grass. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas cowboys every Sunday.

Derl was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Doss Echols; daughter, Sherri Echols; granddaughter, Jamie Echols; two brothers James and Johnny Echols.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Kerley Echols; children, Freida (Mike) Huskey of Texas, David Echols of Paragould, and Leif (Arie) Echols of Hawaii; eight grandchildren and two sisters; special niece and nephew Sandra and Bruce Bommarito of Henderson, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, May 8, 2023, at Northside Cemetery in Maynard with Calvin Botard officiating.

All services are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
