Obituary

Jonesboro - Dennis E. Carter, 63, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019.

He was born November 4, 1955 in McMinnville, Oregon to Marvin and Marian Rickard Carter. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army for nine years. He had worked at JB Hunt, Carl Filter Brick, Mr. D\u0027s, The Jonesboro Sun, Trailmobile, ME Carter, and Swanson Company. He enjoyed watching television and loved playing with his grandchildren. He attended Apple Hill Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Madeline Carter; his mother, Marian Miller of Boone, Iowa; his children and their spouses, Jackie and Scott Fortier of Blacksburg, SC, Gennie and David Watson of Jonesboro and Christopher and Jorden Carter of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren, Marian "M.J." Fortier, Brittany Crowder Nash, Bradley Crowder Nash, Jacob Crowder, Isaac Watson, Joshua Watson, Sarah Watson, Rebecca Watson and Elizabeth Carter; sisters, Bonnie Ulbright of Spokane, Washington and Darlene Russ of Michigan; brothers, Ronnie Miller of Madrid, Iowa and Rick Hanson of Elm Creek, Nebraska; and approximately 66 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Carter; stepmother; Violet Carter, stepfather, Don Miller; a granddaughter, Emily Watson and his brothers, Dewayne, LeRoy, and Larry and sisters, Donna, Linda, and infant sister, Judy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will be 11:00 am Friday, February 15, 2019 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with James King officiating. Interment will be 2:00 pm at Birdeye Veteran's Cemetery with military honors.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are A. J. Fortier, John Goad, Tim Harris, Aaron Miller, Ronnie Miller, P. J. Hanley, Shane Prine and Gary Tyner.
