Jonesboro - Danny Lee Forrester, 72, passed away peacefully at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House on Monday, May 28, 2018 surrounded by family and following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Danny was born on March 22, 1946 to P.L. and Susan Forrester in St. Louis, MO. He was raised in Jonesboro, where he graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1965. Danny was very proud to have served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force from 1968-1969 in Nhatrang, South Vietnam. Danny attended ASU and later went on to work for the Telecommunications Department at ASU, where he retired after 20 years of service. Those who knew and loved Danny would lovingly describe him as a "kid at heart"-- he was a lifelong learner and had an affinity for video games, music of all kinds, and the latest technology-- interests he was glad to share with his grandchildren. Danny had a truly kind, selfless, and generous soul. He made genuine connections with everyone he met, including the countless medical staff who cared for him as he battled his illness.

Danny is survived by his wife, Carolyn Forrester; his brother, Larry Forrester of Fayetteville; his sisters, Linda (Mike) Etter of Jonesboro and Charlette (Ron) Wamble of Marion; his daughter, Dawn (David) Merrell of Jonesboro; stepdaughter, Michelle (Steve) Brown of Jonesboro; stepson Brice (Brandi) Russell of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Emily Merrell, Reece Merrell, John (Kelsey) Garland, Haley Brand, Mikayla Gosa, Mercedes (Jake) Barker, Gunner Russell; great-grandson, Ryder Burns, and great-granddaughter Braylee Gosa.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service with the service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Pastor Don Blackmore officiating. Interment will follow at Strawfloor Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mike Etter, Reece Merrell, David Merrell, Brice Russell, Steve Brown, and Greg Forrester.

The family extends a special thanks to the many medical care providers across several facilities who showed Danny exceptional care and compassion during his journey.
