Jonesboro- Cynthia Loretta Mullen, 58, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at her home.
She was born May 1, 1961 in Paragould to the late Buddy and Alberta Bateman. Cindy had many other names in this life: Mother, Dobber and sister. The most precious, though, came from her first grandchild, that name was Sweetie. For the last 20 years, if you knew Cindy, you knew her as Sweetie, and how she loved that name! The sweetness of her disposition knew no bounds. Even in the greatness of her pain and suffering, Sweetie was able to teach others how to be strong and never take life for granted.
Sweetie also enjoyed spinning tales for her loved ones, including the tale of her knight in shining armor who showed up on her doorstep in 1993, making her his wife in 1994. After finding her soulmate, Sweetie really began to live life: going to the lake, taking vacations and watching her cats play.
More than anything, Sweetie loved babies, whether they be her grandchildren, the children or grandchildren of others, or even one of the many kittens born at her home. She wouldn\u0027t hear of having them fixed. Thankfully, the good Lord allowed Sweetie the chance to hold another baby only days before he called her home.
If Sweetie would have anything to tell us today, it would be to be strong like her and love one another according to her example. Drink a cup of coffee, let a puppy lick you and hold a baby while watching a kitten play.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Bateman and two sisters, Rebecca Lewis and Thelma Blancett.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Mullen; her children, Sonia Boling (Ted) of Jonesboro, Candis Stephens (Brett) of Cherry Valley and Ryan Baldridge of Brookland; a step-daughter, Tish Odom of Mountain View; a step-son, Danny Baldridge Jr. of Jonesboro; two brothers and their wives, George and Wendy Bateman and Dewayne and Sherry Bateman all of Paragould; eleven grandchildren, Cale Boling, Kinley Boling, Celeste Robinette, Ciara Stephens, Bridger Stephens, Olivia Baldridge, Zach Richter, Kynndell Miller, Destiny Smith, Cole Baldridge and Andrew Baldridge; and many other family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at New Friendship Cemetery near Paragould.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
