Pocahontas - Curtis Lee Gregory, 86, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was born February 27, 1926 to the late Alfred Lee Gregory and Gladys "Glade" (Hogue) Gregory, at Water Valley, in Randolph County, Arkansas. His family lived on the farms in Water Valley, Bakerden, Dalton, Bristow, Meridith and Elnora Communities. Curtis liked the farm life. He would work at hard physical labor to provide for his family as long as his health allowed him to. He worked on Highway Construction between planting and harvest times. Curtis served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. After farming, he worked at Van-Atkins Clothing Store and later at Cinch Manufacturing. The farming life was his favorite work. He lived in Randolph County all his life except during his Navy duty. Curtis was baptized when he was a young boy and again as a young man going into the military. Along with his parents, Lee and Gladys Gregory, he was also preceded in death by his sister Dena (Gregory) Austin and his grandparents, George and Catherine (Robinson) Gregory and Lemuel and Mary (Cardwell) Hogue and many others in the older generations. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dortha (Crawford) Gregory of the home, daughter Jeanette Berry and husband Carl of Reyno, grandson Greg Lundry and wife Tammy of Pocahontas, great grandchildren, Jerod, Cassandra and Olivia Lundry all of Pocahontas and step grandchildren, Christopher of Richmond, VA, Matthew of Mustang, OK and James Berry of Pocahontas, brother Neal Gregory and wife Wanda of Conway and nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Nelson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 p.m.
