Jonesboro- Cora Lee Wimpy, 84, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born on April 16, 1929 in Lepanto to late Charley and Irene Staples Woodruff. Mrs. Wimpy received her bachelor degree from Arkansas State College and taught at numerous schools in Mississippi, Poinsett and Craighead Counties until 1960. She worked on the family farm until 2007. She was a member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Sr. Sunday School Class. She is survived by a son, Waymon Lee Wimpy of Jonesboro; a sister, Opal L. Ward o of Trumann; two brothers and their wives, Charley and Dorothy Woodruff Jr. of Trumann and Wilford and Betty Woodruff of Florida; two grandchildren and their spouses, Chad Lee and Mary Wimpy of McCrory and Rebecca and Shawn Miller of Tennessee; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Miller; a sister-in-law, Wanda Woodruff of Pangburn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thad Waymon Wimpy; four sisters, Hazel C. Woodruff, Thelma Goforth, Mary Abel and an infant; three brothers, John Woodruff, Lawrence Woodruff and Russell Woodruff. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Fulmer and Rev. Rick Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, February 21, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Douglas, Greg Puckett, Mark Wimpy, Bryan Butts, Melvin Robbins and Derrick Pippenger. Honorary pallbearers are Kirk Dunn, Jack McCoy, Dr. Joe McCoy, A. L. Hollingsworth, Norman Ransome, Roger Blankenship, Jimmy White and members of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Special thanks to her sister-in-law, Lucille Wimpy, Margaret Nothwang, Jeanette Dunn, Deborah Rogers, Donna Morris and other caregivers who have served Mrs. Wimpy during her illness, Dr. Lee Woodruff, Dr. Steven Woodruff, Dr. Henry Stroop, Dr. Joseph George, Dr. Matt Wood along with all of the NEA Baptist clinical and hospital staff and dear friends, Clarence Woodard, Jeanice Robbins, Betty Foster, Wilcy Mae Clayton, Cody Clayton and John Booth and all the friends that participated in Karaoke on the River and at Plumnearly Hunting Club.
