Coleman Franklin "Arkie" Pierce, 94, of Pocahontas passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at his home.
He was born February 14, 1927 in Pitman to the late James M. and Nellie Willis Pierce. He was an Army veteran earning the World War II Victory Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon, and Sharpshooter designation. He was a longtime faithful member of Pyburn Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Pierce; son, Lanny Pierce; infant daughter; and two sisters, Lucille Braschler and Anna Mae Carrens.
Arkie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Georgia Raye Pond Pierce; daughter, Sherry (David) Schonborg of Fort Walton Beach, FL; son, James L. Pierce of Machesney Park, IL; daughter-in-law, Barbara Grimsby of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Matthew Pierce of Machesney Park, IL, Nicole (Timothy) Robinson of Lyle, TX, Troy (Kimberlee) Pierce of Austin, TX, Travis Pierce of Boulder, CO, and Tasha Grass of Machesney Park, IL; seven great grandchildren, Carter Pierce of Machesney Park, IL, Alyssa Pierce of Orlando, FL, Alexa Dunn of West Virginia, Katie Robinson of Lyle, TX, Ana Robinson of Lyle, TX, Seth Grass of Machesney Park, IL, and Lena Grass of Machesney Park, IL; one great-great grandson, Elijah Dunn of West Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 10-11 AM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM with Charles Carrens and Joshua Dement officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ingram Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Troy Pierce, Travis Pierce, Matt Pierce, Charles Carrens, Jerry Duff, and Craig Simington.
