Obituary

Marionville, Missouri - Clyde Gordon Sowle, Jr., 91, went to his heavenly home on Friday, November 5, 2021.  He was a beloved husband and father of strong Christian faith.

Gordon was born in Jonesboro on July 26, 1930.  He was an eleventh generation Mayflower descendant. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1949 and attended Arkansas State College now ASU.  He served in the Navy during the Korean War (1951-1954), was a Game and Fish Warden, and had a 30 year career at General Electric.  Gordon was an avid sportsman, loved hunting and fishing catching many trophy fish in the lakes of Arkansas.  He enjoyed traveling, had a zeal for life, and never met a stranger.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Dorothy Talbott Sowle; brother, John (Frances) Sowle; son, Gary Sowle; daughters, Brenda (Phil) Denney; Sandra Sowle; Karolyn Sowle; step-daughters, Jackie Boyd, Stephanie (Robert) Campbell and Barbara (Trent) Utchman; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Cole Sowle, and his parents, Clyde Gordon Sowle, Sr., and Katherine Knight Sowle.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend Larry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with military honors.
