Hermitage, TN- Clarice Matthews, 96, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at her home.

She was born March 8, 1926 in Tuckerman to the late Levi Middleton Casteel and Roxie Marie Casteel. She had lived in Monette and Jonesboro for many years before moving to Hermitage. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Monette First United Methodist Church and then the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

She is survived by her son, David Matthews (Ellen) of Hermitage; a daughter-in-law, Linda Matthews of Monette; grandchildren, Kimberly, Laura Lee (Lance), Warren and Jackie; great-grandchildren, Hugh Lee Malesh, Isabella Grace Malesh, Jeryn Berg, Aiden Almus Neldon, Allanna Neldon, John Phillip Matthews, Presley Halk and Jagger Halk.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Almus Matthews; a son, Phillip Matthews and a sister, Carma Lee Rice.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
