Jonesboro-Christa Eva Dacus, 97, departed this life Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Craighead Nursing Center. She was born December 24, 1918 in Heber Springs, the daughter of Earl and Ida Price McAnear. Eva married John "June" Dacus on January 28, 1939 and they enjoyed 56 years together before his death in October of 1995. Together, they ran the June Dacus Grocery on West Oak Street for over 50 years. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary for the Fisher Street Methodist church for most of her life. She began attending the First Baptist Church a few years ago and placed her membership there. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Rogers, Bonnie Hoffman and Earlene Phillips. She is survived by two sons, Fred Dacus (Brenda) of Jonesboro and John Dacus, II (Patricia Ann) of Higden; one brother, James Earl McAnear (Ann) of Germantown, TN; five grandchildren, Stan Dacus (Amy) of Jonesboro, Leslie Gay (John ) of Jonesboro, Laura Daniels of Jonesboro, John Dacus, III (Christi) of Collierville, TN and Joshua Dacus (Ashley) of Aledo, TX; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Graveside funeral services are set for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in charge of services. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
