Bono- Cheseldene Cooper, 91, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at NEA Baptist Hospital.
He was born February 4, 1926 in Melbourne to the late Cecil Troy and Snodie Smith Cooper. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a shipping manager for Riceland for many years. He enjoyed music, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Bono Church of Christ. He will be remembered as a loving father, brother and grandfather. Mr. Cooper will be fondly remembered by his special family as a loving father, uncle and grandfather figure to everyone who was honored to know him.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jean Cooper; a son, Troy Cooper; a grandson and four brothers.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Clark (Larry) and Douglas Cooper (Carolyn) all of Jonesboro, Marco Cooper (Yvonne) of Hardy, Patricia Wood (Carlos) and Ron Cooper (Michelle) all of Bono; a daughter-in-law, Oleta Cooper of Bono; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters; a brother and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Union Grove Cemetery with Paul Craig officiating. Interment will follow with military honors.
Honored to serve as a pallbearer are Brandon Wood, Dathan Cooper, Logan Cooper, Kyle Cook, Rodney Vanhoozer and Wes Minear.
