Sedgwick- Charlotte Elizabeth LaMew Vance, 90, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Charlotte was born in Greene County in August of 1923. She moved to Sedgwick early in her life. Her parents, Joe and Mary LaMew, owned the local general store. She graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1946. She worked for Citizen's Bank in Walnut Ridge and the Revenue office in Jonesboro. A lifelong member of Sedgwick Methodist Church, Charlotte Served as a Sunday School secretary and treasurer. She sang beautifully as a soprano in the choir and cross-stitched many of the Christmas tree ornaments that continue to be used yearly. She will be remembered for her love of fishing, her skills as a seamstress and the wonderful family meals she prepared. In the summer of 1946, she married the love of her life, Glenwood "Peck" Vance. They were blessed with two children, Sammy Glenn Vance of Sedgwick and Jean Marie Craft (Rohn) of Jonesboro, who both survive her. She also leaves her grandsons and their wives, Drew and Rebekah Craft and Jesse and Dawn Craft; three great-grandchildren, Cora, Sutton and Boston Craft; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenwood "Peck" Vance; an infant brother, Max LaMew, her parents, Joe and Mary LaMew. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Michael Doyle and Rev. Robert Stafford officiating under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Craft, Tim Nichols, David Vance, Rick Myers, David Vance II and Gene Vance and as honorary pallbearers, Donnie Merle Vance and Rick Hopkins. Lasting memorials may be sent to Sedgwick United Methodist Church or NEA Humane Society.
