Marshall, Michigan - Charline Ward Osment, 95, died Sunday evening, March 10, 2013 at Tendercare of Marshall. Mrs. Osment was born on September 4, 1917 in Garland to late Lee and Hattie Green Rodgers. She had been a long time resident of the Marshall area, living here from 1953 through 1979. She returned to Arkansas in 1979 and then returned to Marshall in 2012. Charlene was a graduate of the Wright Beauty Academy and was licensed with the State of Michigan to practice Cosmetology. While living in the Marshall area she had been employed by the Nodie Bidelman and Glenda Hopkins Beauty Salons. Other places of employment included working in her sister's restaurant, Thelma's Caf, and as a clerk in downtown Marshall at a Five and Dime Store. On January 12, 1935, she married Dow Ward in Harrisburg, he passed on October 29, 1978. She then married Mr. Joe Osment of Central Community, Harrisburg, he has also passed. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann (Duane) Rockey of Marshall and Sandra (Lester) Turner of Harbor Springs, MI; two step-sons, Terry (Paula) Osment and Kim (Dody) Osment of Central Community, Harrisburg; two step-daughters, Brenda (Gary) Moss of Central Community and Sandra (Maurice) Hitt of Mountain Home; grandchildren, Greg Rockey, Shelley Rockey and Derek Turner; step-grandchildren, Scott Osment, Chris Jackson, Jason Osment, Jeff Moss, Erica Johnson, Sara Taylor Kara Fowler, Seth Osment and Brooke Guthrie; and a brother, Raymond Rodgers of Tucson, AZ. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, Harold Osment; a step-grandson, Joey Osment; three brothers, Jack, Steve and W.D. Rodgers; and two sisters, Thelma Patterson and Josie White. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Central Community Church in Harrisburg. A celebration of her life will be at 1:30 pm, Tuesday at the church with Revs. Milton Cowling and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Central Community Church, Harrisburg or the American Alzheimer's Association.
