Obituary

Bay- Charles Loyd "Fat" Nix, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born January 31, 1932 in Baldwin, Mississippi to the late B. E. and Lillie Mae Hancock Nix. He was a janitor at Bay Schools, drove tractors and worked on a farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball games, gardening, playing dominoes and the banjo and singing bluegrass. An avid fan of Bay yellowjacket's and St. Louis Cardinals. He is survived by three sisters, Joyce Byrd of Bay, Effie and Cleroy Hathcoat of Brookland and Dorothy Webb of Bay; a brother, James and Helen Nix of Bay; a sister-in-law, Jane Nix; a brother-in-law, Bill Stone; numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ethelene and Tom Addison and Avanell Stone; his twin brother, Floyd Nix; a brothers-in-law, Johnny Webb and Roy Byrd. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 10, 2014 at Bay First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Taylor. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Friday at the church. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Shane Gulley, Nathan Webb, Joseph Secrease, Justin Webb, Luke Fortson and Beau Fortson and as honorary pallbearers the Men's Sunday School Class at First Baptist. Lasting memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Bay building fund.
