Brookland- Charles Curtis "Curt" Groves, 90, left this world on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 to join the love of his life Vivian Shewmaker Groves.

He was born October 1, 1927 in Brookland to the late Samuel and Mary Diggs Groves. He spent his life in the Brookland area. He proudly served in the United States Army and United States Navy. Curt retired from USDA grain division. He traveled a lot over the years but there was no better place in the world than Brookland. Curt was a faithful member of the Brookland Church of Christ. His health prevented him from attending over the past few years.

Curt is survived by his baby sister, Carolyn Ward of Benton; his five children, Kerry Groves, Kenny Groves, Kathy Groves Crigler, Keith Groves and Kim Groves Johnson; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by four siblings, Alvin Groves, Mary Ann White, Alma Kerr and Jane Johnson.

A celebration of his life will be 3:00 pm Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Stimach officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Crigler, Brian Crigler, Tanner Crigler, Logan Crigler, Justin Luce and Caden Sheeks.
