Mrs. Catherine Mary Diaz, of Harrisburg, departed this life Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 54.
She was born January 18, 1963 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Vernon Henry Salazar and Valerie Burdo Salazar.
She was a homemaker and also worked for Swanson's. She loved cooking, bingo and yatzee. She was a huge Cowboys fan and loved her kids and family. She was the family caregiver and also cared for many other children. She married Nelson Diaz on March 15, 1983 and they enjoyed 34 years together.
She is survived by her mother, Valerie Nelson (David) of Harrisburg, her husband, Nelson "Papo" Diaz of the home, two daughters, Sophia Smith (Daniel) of Harrisburg, Olga Diaz of Racine, WI, four sons, Nelson Diaz, Jr., Louis Diaz (Shana), Henry Diaz Salazar and Rafael Diaz Salazar (Kayla), all of Harrisburg, three sisters, Sandra Mungeuia (Joe) of Racine, WI, Dawn Tillman (Sam) of Chicago, IL, Susan Flick of Racine, WI, two brothers, Robert Salazar of Trumann, and Terry Nelson of Harrisburg, and fifteen grandchildren, Tati, Vianna, Diego, Arianna, Brianna, Elijah, Ray-Ray, Kristina, Selena, Louis, Madison, Marquel, Savion, Jamia and Rocky.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 18th, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Brother David Mote officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday evening, July 17th, 6-8 p.m. Her sons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
