Carol Lea
McGuirt
February 6, 1946 – April 12, 2026
Carol Lea McGuirt, 80, of Stokes passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born February 6, 1946 in Randolph County to the late Harold Lewis and Nola Harris Johnston. Carol was married to Don McGuirt on December 20, 1969. Their marriage was marked 56 years of love and devotion.
Carol earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Harding College and later a Master’s Degree from Arkansas State University. She taught for 30 years at Maynard Elementary School where her love and devotion instill a wonderful lasting influence on her students.
Carol was a faithful member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ. She always put Christ first in her life and encouraged many others to do the same through her teaching and her Christian influence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Nola Johnston; two brothers, Thomas Neil and James Warren Johnston; and one sister, Mary Nell Veeder.
Carol is survived by her husband, Don McGuirt; one brother, Wendell (Sandy) Johnston of Stokes; two special nephews, Patrick Johnston of Cabot and Tanner (Anna) Johnston of Pocahontas; and by numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends, and by her beloved church family.
Honoring Carol’s wishes cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition and no services will be held.
