Manila- Carmy Lee Simpkins, 88, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 18, 1925 to the late William Jefferson and Delilah Blackburn Simpkins. Mr. Simpkins was a retired farmer and of the Church of Christ belief. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II and a member of the American Legion. He loved to garden, hunt, fish and cook. He is survived by his wife, Joan Simpkins; two sons and their wives, Bob and Shirley Simpkins of Jonesboro and Stan and Karen Simpkins of Paragould; a brother and his wife, Charles Dee and Mary Simpkins of Atkins; six sisters, Linda Roberds (Darryel) of Dothan, AL, Jane Heise (Fred) and Tommy Jo Masner all of Jonesboro, Phyllis Mize of Searcy, Donna Trammell (Robert) of Monette and Georgie Dehner (Don) of Farmington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jason Simpkins (Dana) of Jonesboro, Jared Simpkins (Nicki) of Benton and Wendy Dyes of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Sidney Simpkins and Tucker Simpkins; three step-children, Teresa Knox, Bart Holt (Kara) and David Holt (Gail); two step-grandchildren, Candice Knox and William Knox and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth L. Richie Simpkins; a brother, Tommy Jeff Simpkins; two sisters, Ruby Bell and Anna June Griffin; two step-sisters, Opaline Reed and Velma Trokey. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Waymon Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of service, Wednesday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Floyd Winstead, Bobby Lee Barker, Bob George, Doug Richie, Jason Simpkins and Jared Simpkins.
