Carpenter
September 12, 1928 – May 6, 2022
Waldenburg- Carmen Scholze Carpenter, 93, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2022.
Carmen was born in Jonesboro on September 12, 1928 and was the first premature baby at St. Bernards Hospital. She was a graduate of Weiner High School and attended Arkansas State College.
She was a lifelong resident of Waldenburg and loved her community. Her presence is a loss for more than just her loving family, but also for the community. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg and her church was a very special and important part of her life.
She and her husband, Malcolm spent many wonderful winters in Okeechobee, Florida fishing. They made many close, lifelong friends while spending time there. They also enjoyed hunting in Wyoming, spending time at their cabin at Greer's Ferry Lake and traveling many other places to visit family and friends.
Carmen was committed to her children and grandchildren throughout her life and her favorite times were spent with her family. She was truly the matriarch of the family and everyone always went to "Grandma" for advice and comfort.
She is preceded by her husband, Malcom Carpenter; parents, Gladys and Eric Scholze and a grandson, Dustin Carpenter.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Harper (Thomas) of Helena; son, Steve Carpenter (Beth) of Batesville; a sister, Shirley Gunter Green of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Kimberly Harper Dockins, Dr. Dylan Carpenter, Lt. Col. Tom Harper and Dayton Carpenter and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg with Pastor Joshua Leiberger officiating. Burial will follow at Waldenburg Cemetery under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
