Obituary

Jonesboro- Carl Ray Tate, 81, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born in Ridgely, Tennessee to the late Harry and Ruby Tate. He was a member of the Big Creek Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He worked as manager of the color and flavor lab at Brach's Candy. He was survived by his wife, Doris Tate; two sons and their wives, John and Sherri Tate of Shorewood, Illinois and James and Jacquie Tate of Jonesboro; three brothers, Marvin Tate of Brookland, Joe Tate of Obion, Tenn. and Donnie Tate of Ridgely; seven sisters, Carol Gatlin of Rogersville, AL, Brenda Campbell of Hornbeak, Tenn., Jessica Moore, Sharon Moore, and Nancy York all of Ridgely, Patricia Dudley of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Linda Smith of Ridgely; four grandsons, Jordan, Jacob, Jaidon and Jace Tate; a granddaughter, Kristen McMillen. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Hillman Tate, Gene Tate and Wayne Tate. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Gipson and Rev. Marvin Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be sent to the Gideon Bible.
