Obituary

Jonesboro- Carl Wayne Liles, 72, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023.

He was born November 10, 1951 in Jonesboro to the late Delbert and Lawanda Halcomb Liles. Carl was a 1969 graduate of Monette High School. He had been a patrolman at Monette and police chief at Lake City for several years. He had also worked at Monette Coop Gin for many years.  Carl was a former member of the Buffalo Island Jamboree where he played guitar and sang. He loved working with wood, he was a true woodman and handyman. He will be remembered for his big smile, laugh and his joking manner.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Liles; his children, Stacey Halk and Aaron Liles (Kristy); grandchildren, Jagger Halk, Reece Liles, Cooper Liles and Presley Halk; sisters, Vanessa Barner (Reg), Sue Morris (Gary) and Dovie Downey (Larry) and a brother, Bill Liles; brothers-in-law, Maxie Jones (Joyce), Terry Jones (Jackie) and Chunk Jones (Anne); and many nieces, nephews and great friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Brandon; a granddaughter, Kynzee Liles and a nephew, Scott Downey.

A visitation to celebrate his life will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Service will be at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Floyd and Jon Milligan speaking.

Honorary pallbearers are Whesley Victor, Dwight Whittenburg, Bishop Whitley, Jimmy Yancey, Darrell Gifford, Mark Liles, Andy Dunn, Wesley Dunn, Brian Carmichael, Travis Tompkins, Billy Liles, Max Liles, Jamie  Staggs and the old Monette Coop Gin Gang.
