Mr. Carl Edward Farris of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Flo \u0026 Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 86.
He was born September 18, 1930 in Fairfield, Illinois, the son of the late George Farris and Alice McKitrick Farris.
Carl was a retired Insurance salesman having worked 33 years in the Insurance industry. He retired from Cuna Mutual Insurance. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He loved to play the guitar and was heavily involved in the Republican party and politics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a stepson. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Farris of the home, one son, Phillip Farris (Kathy) of Richmond, VA, one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Farris of Carmi, IL, one stepdaughter, Terri Vodry (John) of Seattle, WA, one step daughter-in-law, Teresa Griffin Ford (John) of Harrisburg, AR, two sisters, Cleta Rinkenberger (Raymond) of McKinaw, IL and Lucinda Withrow (Elmore) of Sims, IL, two brothers, Marion Farris of Shreveport, LA and Ray Farris (Faye) of Fairfield, IL, and one grandson, Josh Farris of Carmi, IL.
Visitation will be held at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Tuesday evening, February 28, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Visitation in Illinois will be Wednesday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Johnson \u0026 Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, IL. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson \u0026 Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Culberson officiating. Interment will follow in Buckeye Cemetery in Fairfield with full military honors.
