IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carl Roger
Dixon
March 20, 1938 – September 4, 2023
Carl Roger Dixon, 85, of Weiner passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 with his family by his side.
He was born in Fisher on March 20, 1938 to the late Azel and Mildred Blevins Dixon. He lived a full life of love for his family and his Lord.
He was a long-time musician in which he began his career playing country music with many stars such as Jim Reeves and Loretta Lynn. He recorded his own song that he wrote, "How 'Bout It", in 1962. He switched his preference of music to Christian music when he gave his heart to the Lord in December of 1968. He traveled around the country with his brothers' holding revivals while singing and playing country gospel music. He authored a book in 2009 entitled, False Prophets, in which he was very proud.
He worked hard all of his life but his biggest accomplishments were his inventions of the Grain Spreader and Grain Sweep which make the lives of farmers safer. He has many more inventions in which he had hoped would also be manufactured in the future.
The most important part of his life was the Lord, his family, and his church. He married Hazelle Walker on December 25, 1958 and moved to Michigan. While there they had their three children Carol, Valerie and Darrell. Shortly after Darrell was born, they moved back to Arkansas where he lived the rest of his life.
He began his ministry in the church in 1969 and would talk to everyone about Jesus and the church if they would stand still for one minute.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Keith) Little, Valerie (Jerry) Riley and Darrell (Lisa) Dixon all of Weiner; one brother, Eugene (Minnie Jean) Dixon of Mountain View; eight grandchildren, Brooke (Jackie) McClure, Kristi (Heath) Wilcox, Eric Little, Jeremy Riley, Aaron (Shannon) Riley, Ariel Dixon, Kelsey Pierson, and Casey Jones; great-grandchildren; Anna Wilcox, Christian Wilcox, Emerson Wilcox, Kal Wilcox, Jasper Riley, Keller Riley, Laken Jones, Blane Jones, and Jordan McClure; great-great grandchildren, Ridley Redd and Kaislynn Redd
He is preceded in death, along with his parents, his wife of 57 years, Hazelle Walker Dixon; two brothers, Bill Dixon and Jack Dixon and one great-granddaughter, Carlee Little.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at The Church of God at 5511 Southwest Drive, Jonesboro with the Rev. Gary Barker officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
